Kestrel in Ancient Ivory - Another One of a Kind Piece
Any visitor to my website that follows my work knows that my Kestrel model is one of the most popular knives I make. I honestly thank the Lord for making any of my knives popular. :) Well, here it is again, only this time I dressed her all up in some amazing Ancient Walrus Ivory in a mosaic style pattern over black liners. From what I can tell, and from comments I've recieved from other makers, I may have stumbled upon something totally new and different in the way ivory is utilized for knife handles. This piece sports a scary sharp blade from 1095 High Carbon steel that has been differentially heat treated to provide a hard edge that will stay sharp, while retaining a softer, springier back. I wanted the bolsters to contrast the light colors in the ivory so I chose black linen Micarta - I think it really works. Nickel silver pins are placed throughout to hold it all together. As always, it comes with a custom sheath seen below.

Just look at the shine eminating from the polished "Tapioca" ivory. Stunning? Yes. Manly, definately!

I chose to put a satin finish on the blade for durability. Highly polished blades are great, but that polish doesn't last long and then it looks bad.

All my knives come with a hand made, hand sewn 6-7 oz premium leather sheath.
