Ancient Walrus Artifact Ivory - Necklace Centerpieces - Available
You may choose from the pieces below, mix and match, and a Sterling Silver bail will be added to the top of the piece
to hang it from your necklace. What a wonderful conversation piece around the office, at church, or at holiday parties.
I can virtually guarantee that you'll be the only one there with a necklace containing actual ivory, let alone ancient ivory.
And no one can argue that an "animal was hurt" to create your beautiful necklace. The natives of ancient times were rarely thinking about artwork when they used this ivory... they were using it for tools and hunting and fishing equipment. They used virtually every part of the animal for food, clothing, shelter, and tools.
Resources were scarce in the Arctic. Ivory and bone were prevelent and wood was not. If they wanted wood for tools they had to travel an incredible distance or trade with the other nomadic tribes of the area which didn't happen often.
Final price of necklace will be determined once all materials are chosen. These pieces can be purchased separately if you would like to just add them to a gold or silver chain for beautiful simplicity. Email to inquire about separate pricing.
